Greece to receive F-35 jets, military aid package from US

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that the country will receive F-35 fighter jets and a substantial military aid package from the U.S. According to Mitsotakis, this move not only enhances Greece's armed forces but also underlines the strategic depth of relations between the two countries.

During his weekly review on Sunday, Greek prime minister confirmed that the country would obtain up to 40 F-35 aircraft. Furthermore, the U.S. is set to provide Greece with a comprehensive military aid package from its stockpiles, entirely free of charge. This package aims to reinforce the three branches of the Greek Armed Forces and the coast guard.

Highlighting the importance of this development, Mitsotakis said, "Yesterday's letter from the head of U.S. diplomacy to me seals the strategic depth of the Greek-American relations." He added, "Active diplomacy, stability, and the reliability of Greece are vindicated in the best way while our homeland further armors its defense."

The prime minister's address also encompassed various governmental initiatives to improve citizens' daily lives. These include digitalization efforts, family support measures such as the increase in childbirth allowances, and steps to combat the rising cost of living.

In the realm of culture, Mitsotakis highlighted the international success of Greek cinema. He proudly noted the achievement of Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, whose latest film, "Poor Things," garnered 11 Oscar nominations – a record for a Greek filmmaker.
