'Israel uses hunger as war crime,' reports say as forces Kill 560 aid seekers in Gaza

Israeli forces have killed 560 Palestinians in Gaza, intensifying a humanitarian crisis, reports confirm.

These deaths have occurred as civilians desperately seek food and humanitarian aid amidst escalating violence.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, based in Geneva, asserts that Israeli attacks have not only killed aid workers but also those trying to receive aid. They starkly criticized these actions, stating: "Israel uses hunger as a standalone war crime."

General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti, stressed the gravity of the situation in a tweet.

"Some 560 is the number of civilian Palestinians killed by the Israeli army while they were trying to get food and humanitarian aid in Gaza City in addition to 1523 injured," he said.

Since Oct. 7, 2023, the Israeli army has repeatedly attacked aid convoys and groups gathered around them, significantly worsening the situation in Gaza.

The blockade of aid trucks by the Israeli forces has led to acute shortages, forcing nearly 2.3 million Palestinians to face starvation.

Reports from the region indicate that some residents, unable to find flour, are grinding animal feed to make bread.

Several specific incidents have worsened the situation for civilians in Gaza. On March 19, Israeli forces targeted local teams waiting at the Kuwait Intersection to escort aid, killing 23 Palestinians.

In a similar attack near the same location on February 29, 118 people lost their lives, and 760 were injured.

The latest incident, as reported by the local health ministry, occurred on March 23, resulting in at least 19 deaths.

These attacks place the Gazan population in a perilous situation, caught between the threat of hunger and the danger of seeking life-saving aid.

This ongoing conflict has drawn international attention and calls for urgent humanitarian intervention in Gaza.
