Cease-fire must be declared urgently: Jordanian FM Safadi

As preparations for an operation in Rafah continue, Jordan has called for a cease-fire in Gaza. Rafah has become the last refuge for 1.4 million civilians fleeing Israel's relentless bombardment.

More than 33,000 civilians have lost their lives in Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7. Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi reiterated the call for a cease-fire due to the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.

In a statement made on Saturday, Safadi emphasized the urgent need to deliver aid to the besieged Gaza Strip and called for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Palestine.

In his statement, Safadi said, "The hunger in Gaza must end, and the United Nations must come up with a solution. Aid needs to reach the Gaza Strip immediately. A ceasefire must be declared without delay."
