US considers resettling Palestinians fleeing Gaza attacks

Senior officials at U.S. institutions are exploring potential pathways for resettling Palestinians in Gaza, deeply affected by ongoing Israeli assaults, as reported on the official CBS News website.

The U.S. initiative aims to create a “safe zone” for individuals seeking to flee the conflict in Gaza.

The news report underlines concerted efforts focused on Palestinians with familial ties to U.S. citizens or residents, signaling a targeted approach in the resettlement discussions amid the escalating crisis in Gaza.

Those who manage to flee Gaza and reach Egypt are expected to receive refugee status under the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.

According to the report, Palestinians with relatives in the U.S. are being considered for assistance to depart from Gaza.

Cooperation with Egypt is emphasized as part of the relocation process.

The toll of Israel's war on Gaza has been devastating, with more than 34,500 Palestinians, mostly women and children, killed. Following more than six months of war, much of Gaza has been left in ruins and 85% of the population has been forced into internal displacement.
