Macron condemns students participating in demonstrations in Palestine's support

French President Emmanuel Macron commented on the demonstrations in support of Palestine that started in the U.S. and spread to universities in France in an interview with the French newspapers La Tribune Dimanche and La Provence.

As students accusing the French government of hypocrisy over Gaza continue their protests at leading universities across the country, Macron said he finds it “legitimate, healthy and reassuring that young people can express and debate on international events that affect them.”

In response, Macron strongly condemned the blocking of campus entrances by pro-Palestinian students.

In this context, Macron argued that some students were prevented from entering the school because they were Jewish, emphasizing that he was in favor of the security forces evacuating the protesting students “if requested by the university administrations."

Following the U.S., protests in support of Palestine continue in many universities in France. At Sciences Po, one of France's leading universities, students are organizing demonstrations to protest the situation in Gaza, where Israeli attacks continue, and to send a message of solidarity with Palestine.

France's Sorbonne University is also witnessing demonstrations in support of Palestine.
