Türkiye among top 4 major producers in defense sector

Military medical and textile products manufactured within the Turkish defense industry have achieved significant export success, reaching 29 countries including the United States, Japan, Finland, Nigeria and China.

Yusuf Aydin, Co-Founder of Fora Group Defense Technologies, stated that the company, founded by himself and his partner Melih Aktas in 2012 with just two people, has grown to employ approximately 200 individuals.

"Initially, we imported products from abroad and provided goods and services to defense and security-related institutions. However, we started producing and exporting domestic products at a certain point," Aydin expressed.

"We are a good producer in the military medical field. We are Türkiye's, Europe's, and the Middle East's largest capacity company. We became one of the 4-5 major producers in the world in this regard. Our products are opened and used beside every injured soldier. Many of them have ensured their survival," Aydin said.

Providing lifesaving military medical solutions with unparalleled quality

Aydin highlighted that they operate as a project management company meeting the needs of military medical, military textile, forensic examination materials, storage and transportation solutions, and special operations equipment.

Pointing out their rankings among Turkey's fastest-growing companies, Aydin noted: "We ranked 33rd in 2019 and 22nd in 2020. We continue to grow and aim to re-enter this list."

Completed 700 projects with zero errors

Aydin stated that 90% of their products are provided for use by security forces, with their products present in almost every team, platoon, and brigade.

"We have delivered tourniquets, stretchers, first aid kits, and basic and advanced emergency intervention kits. We have backpacks, stretchers, tactical water bottles, and tactical-optical materials delivered regarding commando equipment. We have completed approximately 700 projects with zero errors. Our soldiers, police, gendarmerie, and other defense-related units use 90% of these. So far, there has been no negative feedback, and they are being used with satisfaction," Aydin affirmed.

Export gateway opened with Azerbaijan

Aydin reported that they made their first export to Azerbaijan about 2.5 years ago and that their products have become usable in 29 countries in the last two years.

Providing information about export activities, Aydın stated, "Our products are used in the Japanese army. From Finland to Nigeria, from the U.S. to China, our products are used in a wide geography, from the Adriatic to China."

"We manage at least 90-100 different products. We deliver these products to many NATO countries, aggressively continuing our growth focused on exports."

Export share surpasses 50%

Yusuf Aydin said that having their products used by a Kyrgyz soldier on the border, in Japan, and exporting to the U.S. and Scandinavian countries makes them happy.

Pointing out that their products are used by almost all martyrs and veterans, Aydin said: "We want to do these with 400 employees, not 200. Let it be 59 countries, not 29."

Yusuf Aydin reported that the export share in turnover, which was initially around 2-3%, has exceeded 50% due to these activities.

Aydin pointed out that they fill an important gap in meeting the needs of various geographies worldwide in an area dominated by American companies, emphasizing that they are preferred in the U.S. due to their production capacity and quality.

"It's a difficult thing because especially military medicine originates from there. We are not only exporting to the USA but also to China, which is normally against the flow of life. Because China meets the needs of the whole world in this direction, while we export our products there," Aydın concluded.
