United States to sell 25 F-35s to South Korea

The United States (US) State Department announced that it has approved the sale of twenty-five F-35 fighter jets to South Korea, worth 5 billion dollars. With this, DAPA announced that the procurement of the jets would support the country's "Chain of Death" preemptive strike system, a three-tier deterrence program against North Korea's nuclear and missile threats.

United States to sell 25 F-35s to South Korea

The United States (US) has approved the sale of twenty-five F-35 fighter jets worth a total of 5 billion dollars to South Korea, the US Department of State announced.

Yonhap agency recently announced that South Korea's Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has approved a major defense project that includes the purchase of additional F-35s and SM-6s in order to increase deterrence against North Korea's 'increasing military threats'. Immediately afterward, DAPA announced that the Defence Project Promotion Committee approved a 3.75 trillionwon (54 billion 375 million Turkish liras) project for the purchase of F-35 fighter jets until 2028. A last-minute statement came from the USA regarding the sale.
