Russia issues note to Yerevan after US-Armenia exercises

Armenia, which announced that it would hold joint exercises with the United States (US), received a note from its "friend" Russia, which supported Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Following this, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian told a Western media organization that Russian peacekeepers could withdraw from Nagorno-Karabakh on their own initiative. President of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan, on the other hand, reacted to the statement made by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova against the Armenian administration with harsh expressions.

These successive steps angered the Russians. The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Armenia's Ambassador to Moscow Vagharshak Harutiunyan.

In recent days, Armenia's political circles and political elites have questioned Russia and bilateral relations. In this context, the Armenian leadership has taken a series of unfriendly steps, including the initiation of the ratification process of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), the visit of Anna Hakobyan, the wife of the Armenian Prime Minister, to Kyiv to deliver humanitarian aid to the Nazi regime in Kyiv, and the organization of military exercises on the territory of Armenia with the participation of the US.

In this regard, Armenia's Ambassador to Moscow Vagharshak Harutiunyan was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry and given a stern presentation. In addition, the aggressive remarks of the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan were rejected and a note of protest was presented.
