The military exercises between Armenia and the United States (US) and the deployment of foreign forces in the region could complicate the current situation, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said after a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart.

According to the written statement of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Abdollahian held a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated that regional platforms such as the 3+3 mechanism are the most effective way for lasting peace in the Caucasus region.

Stating that Iran believes in the necessity of resolving conflicts at the root for lasting peace in the region, Abdollahian stressed that the most effective way to achieve this is through regional dialogue platforms, including the 3+3 mechanism formed by Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Georgia, and Armenia.

Armenian Foreign Minister Mirzoyan described the development of relations with Iran as "constructive and important".

Mirzoyan conveyed to his Iranian counterpart that Armenia would not allow its territory to be used for anti-Iranian activities.
