Netanyahu is existential threat to Israel: Haaretz

While the question of how the attack, to which Israel responded with indiscriminate violence, was not prevented has long been at the forefront of the debate in the country on the Mediterranean coast, the arrows have turned to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Haaretz, one of Israel's leading newspapers, published an article titled "Netanyahu is an existential threat to Israel's survival".

Recalling Netanyahu's 2012 address to the United Nations (UN), the newspaper wrote that Netanyahu described Iran as an existential threat that day. Haaretz argued that the same applies to Netanyahu today. "Israel's internal and international vulnerability is the fault of Iran, its proxies, and the country's failed leader Netanyahu," it stated.

NETANYAHU BLAMES ARMY

The newspaper said that Netanyahu was waging a campaign to pin the blame on the Israeli army. Haaretz quoted an unnamed military official as saying, "Netanyahu is organizing a campaign, gathering evidence against the army and explaining privately why he should not be held responsible. He keeps repeating that he did not receive intelligence information."

Haaretz pointed out that Netanyahu appointed a spokesperson to coordinate with Israeli military correspondents only four days after the start of the war, which many sources described as unusual, especially in times of war when the Defence Minister and the Chief of Staff are in constant contact with military correspondents.

It noted that Netanyahu met with the heads of various media in Israel for the first time in many years since the beginning of the war. The newspaper also quoted an unnamed Likud party minister as saying: "Anyone who thinks he can escape responsibility for the worst failure since the founding of the state is making a serious mistake."

WHAT HAPPENED

Hamas' military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, announced that they launched a comprehensive attack against Israel called "Al-Aqsa Flood" on the morning of October 7.

While thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel, armed groups entered the settlements in the region. The Israeli army also launched an attack on the Gaza Strip with dozens of warplanes.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that 4 thousand 651 people, including 1thousand 873 children and 1023 women, were killed and 14 thousand 245 injured in Israel's attacks on Gaza.

It was reported that 1 thousand 400 Israelis, including 306 soldiers, were killed and 5 thousand132 Israelis were wounded in the attacks from Gaza.

The Israeli army hit Damascus and Aleppo airports. As the Middle East is once again turning into a bloodbath, a deadline has been set for nearly 2 and a half million Palestinians to leave the blockaded Gaza.

In the occupied West Bank, 90 Palestinians were reportedly killed in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers.

In Israel's attacks on Gaza, 18 journalists were killed.

In the clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah on the Israel-Lebanon border since October 8, 24 Hezbollah members and 4 civilians, one of whom was a journalist, were killed. Three Israeli soldiers and one Israeli civilian were killed in the attacks organized by Lebanon.

Most recently, Israel attacked the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, killing civilians.
