Organisation of Islamic Cooperation calls for action to halt Israeli attacks on Gaza

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation urged the international community to take responsibility for halting the Israeli attacks on Gaza, stressing the need to provide urgent assistance and international protection to the Palestinian people.

Israel's attacks on Gaza reached its most severe dimension last night. Targeting the entire infrastructure of the blockaded city, Israeli forces are endeavoring to expand the area of the land operation by cutting off the communication of the Palestinians to the world. While the developments were being followed with concern, yesterday the United Nations (UN)General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a draft resolution calling for "an immediate, permanent and sustained humanitarian ceasefire and cessation of hostilities" in Gaza. Following the UN resolution yesterday, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation also called for a ceasefire.

According to a written statement on the website of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha sent a message to many international actors, including the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

CALL TO WORLD TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

In these messages, Taha called on the international community to take responsibility for halting Israel's attacks on Gaza and called for urgent assistance and international protection for the Palestinian people who are being subjected to war crimes.
