Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Kurtulmus emphasizes unity, solidarity during iftar gathering

Numan Kurtulmus, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament met with civil society organizations, business figures, and opinion leaders in Sultanbeyli province of Istanbul for an iftar gathering.

Expressing his pleasure at being among the citizens of Sultanbeyli, Kurtulmus wished everyone a blessed Ramadan. He highlighted the plight of millions of Muslims worldwide during Ramadan, who lack food, water, and even safety at their tables, particularly mentioning Gaza, where dire living conditions persist.

Kurtulmus underlined Türkiye's position at the heart of some of the world's most critical conflict zones. He pointed out that the forces attempting to narrow the world down for anyone other than themselves are rapidly pushing the world towards a 3rd world war.

Kurtulmus described the past 6 months as witnessing one of the greatest humanitarian crises and atrocities in modern times. He said that a genocide was taking place in Gaza, and humanity was unfortunately silent in the face of it.

"Türkiye must stand strong in this geography"

Kurtulmus continued, "Similarly, as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, with hundreds of thousands dead and cities burned, we see that the issue is escalating to a new level, especially with the recent terrorist attack in Moscow. In this geography, where we are at the center, in the Black Sea, the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Middle East, we witness significant tensions and conflicts. Türkiye must stand strong in this geography. We must be strong economically, politically, and in all fields. But above all, as a nation, we must exhibit a healthy stance towards the world as 85 million people, united and in solidarity. We must not use differences as a cause for separation but see them as a source of richness and unite around our national sensitivities."

Kurtulmus stated that Türkiye's strength in this region is a necessity and an advantage for solving the region's problems. He highlighted Türkiye's diplomatic efforts regarding Gaza, noting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's tireless efforts for a solution since the beginning.

Kurtulmus mentioned his numerous meetings with over 100 parliamentary, governmental, and state leaders, attending 6 international meetings and conducting numerous bilateral talks during this period.

"Türkiye must fight to establish a new order, a new political system on earth"

He continued, "In all these meetings, we explained Türkiye's perspective of peace, its ideas for the well-being of this geography to our counterparts. Especially in what we can call Gaza diplomacy, we fought with all our might for the improvement of Gaza's situation and the elimination of oppression there. Türkiye's leadership is needed. Türkiye must fight to establish a new order, a new political system on earth."

Kurtulmus also touched upon the recent developments at the United Nations, where despite the majority of nations being against Israel, some states, especially the United States, supported the Zionist regime, preventing any concrete results. He noted that the U.S., out of embarrassment, abstained from taking a stance in the end.
