Since Oct. 7, Türkiye has been engaged in intensive diplomatic efforts to end the massacres carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

President Erdogan recently hosted Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, who lost three sons and four grandchildren in the recent Israeli attack, at the Presidential Dolmabahce Office.

During the meeting between President Erdogan and Ismail Haniyeh, discussions revolved around Israel's attacks on Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza, the necessary steps for ensuring the uninterrupted and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and matters related to a fair and permanent peace process in the region.

Widespread coverage of the meeting

The meeting between the two leaders received widespread coverage in the global media.

Reuters reported President Erdogan's statement to Hamas leader Haniyeh emphasizing the vital importance of Palestinians acting in unity.

Additionally, President Erdogan's characterization of Hamas as a "Liberation movement" and Türkiye's imposition of trade restrictions on Israel were also highlighted in the news.
