The ongoing dispute between Israel and Palestine is no ordinary conflict but rather a struggle between oppressors and the oppressed, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says

'Israel is killing both Palestinians and international law': FM Fidan

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a joint press conference at the Istanbul Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following his meeting with New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters.

Highlighting the intensive collaboration among Türkiye and its partners regarding the recognition of Palestine as a state, Fidan stated that during his upcoming visit to Riyadh over the weekend, they will also meet with other members of the contact group established by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League.

Israel has been killing international law

Fidan expressed their commitment to continue efforts on exploring possibilities with other countries regarding the recognition of the Palestinian state.

He said Israel has "not only been killing Palestinians but also international law."

The conflict also evolved into a “struggle between the founders of the international system and the oppressed within this system," he added.

"If we fail to mobilize the international community to take significant political steps, particularly in recognizing the State of Palestine, this will not be the last Gaza war, which is the most brutal one ... So, we need to exert all our efforts to bring about a lasting solution," Fidan stated.

Türkiye collaborating with int'l bodies to halt Israeli massacre

Turkish foreign minister emphasized Türkiye's extensive work with existing allies and the international community for cessation of the ongoing brutality in Gaza and the provision of humanitarian aid.

"Our colleagues are working day and night at the United Nations. They are working in Geneva. There is an incredible effort and endeavor politically and humanely at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and as you can see, world capitals are also standing up.

As I mentioned in the recent press conference, this issue has gone beyond Israel's occupation of Gaza, the loss of innocent lives numbering 35,000, and the ongoing resistance against oppression. It's no longer just about Israel versus Palestine; it's now a global struggle between oppressors and the oppressed."

'Gaza catastrophe shouldn't continue for another day, another hour'

Peters addressed the situation in Gaza, stating, "The catastrophe unfolding in Gaza should not continue for another day, another hour."

Speaking at a joint press conference, Peters described his visit to Türkiye as "special" and emphasized the extraordinary relationship between Türkiye and New Zealand.

Highlighting the convergence of the destinies of the two countries' peoples during the Gallipoli Campaign, Peters pointed out the generosity of the Turkish people, which he believes should serve as an example for many nations.

Peters emphasized the importance of the events, highlighting that they encompass not just the commemorations of Anzac Day but also the ongoing strengthening of the warm relationship between the two nations.

New Zealand to support 'two-state solution'

Supporting the "two-state solution" for Palestine, Peters reiterated New Zealand's long-standing commitment to it, stating, "We also call for an end to the war today."

Emphasizing their desire to achieve lasting peace, Peters stressed the necessity of a permanent solution and expressed belief in recognition following the resolution.

Addressing the situation in Gaza, Peters remarked, "The catastrophe unfolding in Gaza should not continue for another day, another hour."
