Italy's Nardi stuns Serbia's Djokovic in round 3

Italian tennis player Luca Nardi shocked Serbian legend Novak Djokovic in the Indian Wells men's round 3 on Monday.

The 125th-ranked Italian, who upset the world no. 1 with 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 sets became the lowest-ranked player to ever beat Djokovic at a Masters 1000 or Grand Slam event.

"I’m speechless," Nardi said, adding: "What can I say? Yesterday night, I was dreaming about it, speaking with the coaches, and dreaming about it now it’s real!"

Djokovic, who has not secured the Indian Wells title since 2016, said: "Congrats to him for, particularly in the third set, playing some great, great tennis. He got in as a lucky loser to the main draw, so he had nothing to lose. He played great and deserved to win."

The 36-year-old Serbian has so far bagged 24 grand slam titles.
