The death toll exceeded 50 thousand: Türkiye and Syria earthquake

Earthquakes affecting 10 provinces of Türkiye and north of Syria on February 6, according to the statement made on Friday, the number of dead exceeded 50 thousand.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the death toll in Turkey due to earthquakes rose to 44,218 on Friday night. With Syria's latest announced death toll of 5,914, the combined death toll in the two countries rose to above 50,000, as reported by Reuters.

Search and rescue work slowed down. It has become impossible to save people from the wreckage.

Authorities said Türkiye's earthquake in 10 provinces caused more than 1 million buildings in the collapse or heavy damage to be destroyed.
