Türkiye rescued 45 migrants turned back by Greece

The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 45 irregular migrants of Afghan origin in the Aegean Sea on Monday. It was learned that the migrants were illegally pushed into Turkish territorial waters by Greek authorities.

Coast Guard North Aegean Group Command detected irregular migrants on a life raft off the coast of Ayvacik in Canakkale. After rescue operations, the migrants were transferred to Ayvacik migration office.

Türkiye and global human rights groups have consistently condemned the Athens government for illegally sending back migrants trying to reach Europe through Greece, endangering their lives.
