KAAN makes global headlines with first flight

Turkish National Combat Aircraft "KAAN" attracted massive attention on Wednesday with its inaugural flight in Türkiye.

The Russian press emphasized this development by announcing the successful flight of the Turks' 5th generation KAAN aircraft.

On the other hand, the local media highlighted the first flight of the fifth generation KAAN in Türkiye, although there has been no official statement yet.

The Ukrainian press showed interest in the KAAN warplane and said they were considering purchasing it. Following the development, Ukraine congratulated Ankara on this major accomplishment.

"I sincerely congratulate the Turkish people on the successful completion of the first flight of the combat aircraft," said Vasyl Bodnar Ambassador to Ukraine

In a significant development, the Spanish press also reported that Türkiye's new fifth-generation stealth fighter, KAAN, completed its first successful flight.

The developments highlight Türkiye's progress in the international defense industry.

KAAN took off and landed at Ankara's Murted Airfield Command. Test pilot Barbaros Demirbas took the helm in the pilot seat.

KAAN, one of Türkiye's foremost technology initiatives, was developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries under the Presidency of Defense Industries.

Before its first flight, KAAN underwent a series of tests, including ejection seat tests, full-length static tests, inertial and static tests of control surfaces, landing gear drop tests, avionics system tests in the system integration laboratory and fuel tests.

Subsequently, it successfully conducted slow and fast taxi tests on the runway.
