Renowned author Eylem Tok, son face arrest warrant in fatal accident

Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant for renowned writer Eylem Tok and her 17-year-old son identified as T.C. for causing a fatal accident in Istanbul resulting to a death.

T.C crashed the jeep into the group checking the broken ATV engine on the safety lane in Istanbul's EyupSultan.

The accident occurred on Friday, March 1, at around 11:30 p.m. on Davutpasa Street in Mithatpasa District.

Oguz Murat Aci, 29, Tahsin Arslan 23, Suleyman Arslan, 21, Hasan Topal, 21, and Ibrahim Gumus, 27, stopped in the safety lane after one of the engines broke down.

Oguz Murat Aci, who is married and has one child, tried to take precautions by turning on the lights of an ATV engine. Others took care of the broken engine.

At that time, the jeep driven by Tok's son hit the people waiting in the safety lane and fell into the irrigation canal.

While Aci succumbed to his injuries on the spot, Tahsin Arslan, Suleyman Arslan, Hasan Topal and Ibrahim Gumus were injured.

It was determined that after the accident, T.C. called his mother and asked for her help. The mother-son duo fled the scene leaving the jeep involved in the accident behind.

After an initial police investigation, it was revealed that Tok and her son went to the airport at 2:00 a.m. from where they reportedly escaped to Egypt.
