Türkiye's 9th aid ship with 3,000 tons sets off to support Gaza

Türkiye has been at the forefront in responding to the dire humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, delivering about 40,000 tons of aid.

The country is now gearing up to dispatch its ninth humanitarian aid ship, loaded with 3,000 tons of essential supplies, immediately after the Ramadan Bayram.

Türkiye has so far delivered approximately 40,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza. This substantial contribution by Türkiye, through the collaboration of the Turkish Red Crescent and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), emphasizes the nation's unwavering commitment to the humanitarian cause.

The ongoing conflict has led to devastating consequences in Gaza. The relentless Israeli attacks have killed 33,175 Palestinians, including women and children. In addition to this tragic loss of life, infrastructure in Gaza has been severely impacted, with significant destruction to homes, schools, and hospitals.

The Turkish Red Crescent plays a vital role in providing daily meals to 10,000 people and securing a regular supply of 7 tons of drinking water. The organization has also entered a long-term agreement with an Egyptian water factory to ensure the ongoing provision of clean drinking water to Gaza.

Around 1.1 million Gazans face catastrophe-level hunger, and over 854,000 are experiencing acute food shortages. The situation is exacerbated by the halt of operations at Gaza's only power plant since Oct. 11 due to fuel shortages, which have affected hospitals and debris clearance efforts.

With Türkiye's expanded relief efforts, including aid transits via Jordan, the nation is amplifying its assistance to Gaza. Organizations such as MUSIAD and the General Directorate of Foundations, supported by the Turkish public, contribute significantly to these aid campaigns.

Education in Gaza faces a serious crisis, with numerous schools destroyed, affecting hundreds of thousands of students and teachers.

In the face of widespread displacement, U.N.-managed schools have become shelters for approximately 1.4 million Palestinians. These shelters, however, are facing severe overcrowding, highlighting the immense challenges that the Gazan people continue to endure.
