Blinken credits Türkiye for de-escalating Middle-East tensions

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had an important phone discussion with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, centering on the heightened tensions in the Middle East following Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel.

During their conversation, Minister Fidan stressed his grave concerns about the potential escalation and expansion of the crisis.

"The situation in Gaza has consistently posed a risk of turning into a regional conflict, which we have repeatedly pointed out," he stressed.

Fidan also asserted the urgent need for a cease-fire and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Gaza, stating: "Without these steps, the crisis is likely to continue growing."

The Foreign Minister also urged that countries with influence over Israel should convey the right messages to prevent further escalation.

In response, Blinken expressed his gratitude toward Fidan for Türkiye's efforts to reduce regional tensions.

He emphasized the United States' steadfast commitment to Israel's security, saying: "We are deeply committed to Israel's security and are coordinating closely with regional partners to ensure stability."

Additionally, Blinken communicated with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and the United Kingdom.

In these conversations, he reassured his counterparts that the United States does not seek further regional tension.

The active involvement of Türkiye and the United States reflects the broader international endeavor to ensure peace and stability in the Middle East.

As these discussions unfold, the global community remains keenly observant, hopeful that these diplomatic efforts will lead to positive regional outcomes.
