Türkiye's Ambassador Osman Koray Ertas in London received the Diplomat of the Year from Eurasia and the Balkans award from the Diplomat magazine in the U.K.

Türkiye's Ambassador to London, Osman Koray Ertas, has been honored by the British magazine Diplomat with the "Diplomat of the Year from Eurasia and the Balkans" award.

The award ceremony, organized by the magazine for the 14th time, presented awards in 10 regional and thematic categories to foreign diplomats serving in London.

Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom Parliament, attended the ceremony, hosted by Adam Fleming, a senior correspondent of the British broadcasting organization BBC.

During the ceremony, Türkiye's Ambassador Ertas was awarded the "Diplomat of the Year from Eurasia and the Balkans."

Ambassador Ertas, in his speech after receiving the award, expressed that representing Türkiye in London is a great responsibility and honor.

He thanked the embassy and consulate staff.

Who is Osman Koray Ertas?

Ambassador Ertas has been Turkish Ambassador to the U.K. since March 14, 2023.

He previously served as the Turkish Ambassador to Romania (2014-2019), Special Advisor to the Foreign Minister (2019-2023) and Chief of Staff to the President (2011-2014).

Before that, he worked at the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C. (2008-2011), the Turkish Permanent Mission to the U.N. Office in Geneva (2003-2005), the Turkish Embassy in Sofia (2000-2003), and the Policy Planning Department at the Turkish Foreign Ministry (1997-2000).

Ertas also worked as a Transatlantic Fellow at the U.S. State Department (2008-2009).

Ertas has a PhD from George Mason University’s School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution. He also has a Master of Arts (M.A) in Contemporary European Studies from the University of Sussex and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Ankara University.
