Türkiye trains 351 Gambian soldiers for OIC Summit

As Gambia gears up to host the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in early May, Türkiye has stepped in to provide military training to support the country's preparations.

Between April 7 and April 28, some 351 Gambian soldiers received specialized training in various fields, including VIP protection, in the capital, Banjul.

The closing ceremony of the training was attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Gambia Fahri Turker Oba, Gambian Defense Minister Sering Modou Njie, Gambian Chief of General Staff Mamat Cham and many soldiers.

Oba highlighted the significant benefits that the training will bring to the Gambian security forces, both during and after the summit.

Minister Njie emphasized that Türkiye is a reliable development partner for Gambia and thanked Türkiye for its support.
