Emirates and Türkiye partnership: Boosting tourism

The airline Emirates announced on Monday a strategic collaboration with the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) aimed at supporting tourism efforts.

In a joint statement, Emirates and TGA outlined plans to jointly promote tourism to Türkiye and stimulate passenger traffic from key markets across Emirates' extensive global network of more than 140 destinations.

The partnership is geared toward increasing Türkiye's appeal to tourists from both established and emerging source markets.

Emirates Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Europe Thierry Aucoc expressed his excitement about the collaboration, citing Emirates' extensive flight network and strong global partnerships as assets ready to support Türkiye's tourism ambitions and air connectivity requirements.

Türkiye is sought-after destination

“We are confident that our joint efforts will inspire more travelers to discover Türkiye and its numerous attractions,” said Aucoc, emphasizing that Türkiye is a sought-after travel destination known for its rich cultural heritage, iconic landmarks and vibrant culinary scene.

The General Director of TGA, Ismail Butun, highlighted Türkiye's achievements in tourism, noting that the number of visitors increased by 10% in 2023, reaching 56.7 million.

Istanbul, in particular, stood out as one of the most visited cities in the world, welcoming 17.4 million foreign visitors.

Butun said that the positive momentum continued in the first quarter of 2024, with a remarkable 16.7% increase in the number of visitors, reaching over 9 million.

Underlining the potential for further collaboration between Emirates and TGA, Butun added that he envisions new avenues for development.

"The collaboration between Emirates and TGA is expected to bolster the tourism sector further, paving the way for new growth opportunities in the future," Butun said.

Promotional trips to Türkiye

Within the partnership, Emirates plans to explore opportunities to organize promotional trips to Türkiye and collaborate with TGA on joint marketing initiatives and campaigns aimed at showcasing Türkiye's diversity and increasing its global visibility.
