Foreign Ministry to establish foundation for enhanced diplomatic strength

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is set to establish the Foreign Affairs Strengthening Foundation within its structure, aiming to enhance the ministry's efficiency.

According to diplomatic sources, changes have been made in the sections of Presidential Decree No. 1 related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published on April 6, 2024.

The establishment of the foundation underscores the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' commitment to enhancing its organizational structure for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

With 2,190 career officers domestically and 261 diplomatic missions abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ranks third globally in terms of the number of diplomatic missions. To further enhance its effectiveness, the ministry aims to increase its personnel and improve the quality of its human resources. This includes diplomats possessing academic qualifications, proficiency in multiple foreign languages, and expertise in various fields.

The primary objective of the Foreign Affairs Strengthening Foundation is to support efforts to enhance the ministry's human resource capacity and strengthen it institutionally, as well as to create additional resources towards this end.

In the future, the Foundation will support diplomats' education through the establishment of academic institutions, contribute to master's and doctoral studies, and provide resources for publications in the field of international relations.
