A cartoon posted by French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo mocking the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Türkiye and Syria has caused outrage.
The magazine posted on Monday a cartoon called "Earthquake in Türkiye". In the cartoon there are collapsed buildings, rubble and an overturned car. The caption of the cartoon is, "Didn't even need to send the tanks".
Social media users branded the cartoon 'disgusting', 'pathetic' and 'inhuman' as the earthquake's death toll surpassed 8,000.
Kathimerini, one of the leading newspapers in Greece, included the expression "We are all Turks", emphasizing that they stand with the Turkish people in the cartoon published about the earthquake that destroyed 10 provinces of Tükiye and killed thousands of citizens. The caricature of the Greek newspaper was in response to the despicable cartoon shared by the French Charlie Hebdo, known for its provocations.
