The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that occurred in Türkiye caused the death of thousands of people in Syria and Türkiye. The total number of deaths is more than 11,000.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during his visit to epicenterer of earthquacke on Wednesday that a total of 16,170 people in the country have died from the massive earthquakes. The number of injured is 64,194.
According to Syrian Health Ministry, at least 2,992 people died and 2,850 injured in Syria. There are more than 19,000 death and 66,000 injured in two countries.
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Türkiye's southern province of Kahramanmaras at 4:17 am local time, followed by a magnitude 6.4 quake a few minutes later in the country's southern province of Gaziantep and a magnitude 7.6 earthquake at 1:24pm local time in the Kahramanmaras Province.
Rescuers were racing against time and bitter cold to find survivors in Kahramanmaras, the epicenterer of two huge and deadly earthquakes that struck Türkiye and Syria on Monday.
Rescue teams and aids arrived to quake-hit regions from many countries.
