The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will convene under the theme "Strengthening unity and solidarity through dialogue for sustainable development" in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, on May 4-5.

Gambian President Adama Barrow has assured the successful and secure conduct of the 15th Summit of the OIC State and Government Leaders.

Ensuring the successful and secure conduct of the summit, Barrow stated, "Security is very important to us. The delegates coming here are very important people. Therefore, security is our number one priority. That is why we do not take security lightly."

Barrow noted that although Gambia is a small country, it aims to prove to the world that small nations can host significant events.

The summit is expected to be attended by more than 3,000 delegates from around the world.

The last OIC Summit was held in Jeddah on Oct. 18, 2023 with the participation of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The summit addressed Israel's ongoing military aggression against the Palestinian people since Oct. 7.
