Azerbaijan, Slovakia sign joint declaration establishing strategic partnership in Baku

Azerbaijan and Slovakia signed a joint declaration establishing a strategic partnership and military and defense cooperation agreements.

President Ilham Aliyev met Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Baku for talks, culminating in signing the strategic partnership declaration between their nations.

Additionally, their respective defense ministries signed memoranda of understanding on military and technical cooperation.

Aliyev highlighted the declaration as a milestone, stating it elevates relations to the highest level and outlines future cooperation directions.

He also mentioned discussions on joint defense industry production areas and Azerbaijan's gas exports to eight countries, expressing a hope that Slovakia would become the ninth recipient.

Fico praised Aliyev's foreign policy and emphasized Slovakia's desire for military cooperation, promising efforts to ensure the success of joint production ventures in Azerbaijan.

Regarding transportation complexities caused by the Ukraine conflict, Fico mentioned a project to import Azerbaijani gas through Ukraine. If a resolution is reached between Russia and Ukraine regarding gas transit, all parties involved will benefit.

These agreements signify deepening ties between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, extending to defense, economic, and energy sectors.
