Terrorist groups harm everyone involved: FM Fidan emphasizes Türkiye's resolve for stability
FM Fidan says that as long as support continues for terrorist organizations that are considered enemies of Türkiye, he feels compelled to take action to prevent these enemies from gaining any advantage
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized Türkiye's determination to use all its foreign policy tools in a coordinated manner to establish stability in the region.
Minister Fidan evaluated the foreign policy agenda and answered questions during a television program he attended.
Addressing the fight against terrorism in Iraq, Fidan stated, "Our desire is for our friends in Sulaymaniyah to correct their mistakes, to solidify their friendship with Türkiye as they have done in history, and to move forward together towards a common future."
Fidan emphasized that they will build the future together in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Baghdad, Kirkuk, and Mosul, stating that there is no place for terrorist organizations there. He said, "We need to get rid of them from our system. These are organizations that have outlived their usefulness. The cities and cultures I mentioned are ancient cultures that have overcome such threats before, and God willing, they will continue to do so in the future."
When asked about whether there were advanced measures on the agenda, Fidan responded:
"What do you expect me to do as long as you support my enemy? I am open about this. It is my duty to prevent my enemy from benefiting from you. I will do that. And I'm not laying traps or tricks for you, I'm telling you to your face. Give it up, because this is not in your favor, nor is it in anyone's favor. The people of Sulaymaniyah are friends of Turkey. They are not a people who would have any dealings with a terrorist organization."
Minister Fidan said, "The relationship and sincerity of the Kurdistan Patriotic Union (KYB) leadership and the team that constitutes it with the PKK have become not just a problem for us, but a national security threat."
Fidan stated, "Türkiye is determined to use all its foreign policy tools in a coordinated manner to establish stability in the region."
