Türkiye brings PKK member from France to face charges

The General Directorate of Security (EGM) announced that Mehmet Kopal, a member of the terrorist organization PKK, has been brought from France to Türkiye.

"Mehmet Kopal, who was wanted at the national level for 'being a member of the PKK armed terrorist organization,' was brought from France to Türkiye on April 9, following the coordinated efforts of the EGM's Interpol-Europol Department, Counterterrorism Department, Intelligence Department and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to secure a deportation decision," read the statement issued by the EGM.

With a history spanning nearly 40 years, the PKK – recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S., and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
