Turkish soldier martyred in PKK attack in Claw-Lock operation

A Turkish soldier was martyred in a PKK attack during a Claw-Lock operation on Tuesday, said the Ministry of National Defense in a statement.

"As a result of the harassment fire by terrorists in the Claw-Lock operation area, on April 9, 2024, our heroic comrade, Infantry Specialist Sergeant Hikmet Aslan, who was wounded and evacuated to the hospital, was unfortunately martyred despite all the interventions made at the hospital," read the statement.

The statement conveyed condolences to the martyr Aslan, expressing heartfelt condolences and patience to his grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces and the nation.

The PKK frequently uses hideouts in northern Iraq to plan and carry out terrorist attacks within Türkiye.

With a history spanning nearly 40 years, the PKK – recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S., and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
