National Defense Ministry announced on Monday that Turkish security forces have eliminated 16 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, near the borders of the two countries.

The ministry stated that an air operation targeted the terrorists in the Hakurk and Asos regions.

"Our operations will persist until every terrorist is killed," the ministry affirmed, emphasizing that Türkiye remains resolute in its effective and decisive fight against terrorism.

The PKK has waged a terror campaign against Türkiye for over 35 years, resulting in the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.

The organization is recognized as a terrorist group by Türkiye, the U.S. and the European Union.

Türkiye has consistently raised concerns regarding the tolerance extended to the PKK and its supporters across Europe.
