A 58-year-old man named Gholamreza Ardeshiri, who lives in Iran, made widespread news in the world press by stating that he has not eaten anything for 17 years.

In 2006, Ardeshiri said he had stopped eating, and he only eats fizzy drinks. Stating that he can finish an entire bottle of carbonated drink in a single gulp, Ardeshiri told the Iranian press, "I don't feel hungry. I stopped eating 17 years ago. I don't know why either," he said.

'I FEEL BAD WHEN I EAT'

Ardeshiri, who said that he earns a living as a mechanic and educates his two daughters at university, said that there is no medical explanation for why he stopped eating.

"I had a strange feeling. I felt that the head of this hair was inside my mouth and the tip of this hair was inside my stomach, and no matter what I did, it was not possible to remove this hair, I really cannot describe it, but it was a terrible feeling," Ardeshiri said.

DOCTORS COULD NOT FIND AN EXPLANATION

Stating that the doctors could not give any explanation about his illness, Ardeshiri said, "Everyone recommended a different doctor and they made great efforts to diagnose my illness. However, no diagnosis could be made. I went to many doctors to get rid of this feeling. As a last resort, I saw a psychiatrist. However, he has not yet been able to get to the bottom of the situation and find the cause."

4 HOURS OF SLEEP AND 3 LITERS OF SODA A DAY

Stating that he sleeps for about 4 hours a day and consumes about 3 liters of soda, Ardeshiri said that he cannot even watch his family eat in front of him and that seeing a person eating makes him nauseous.
